About The Valley Church At Exeter

The Valley Church at Exeter (formally Tamar Valley Christian Church) was established in 1985.We are a church under Bethesda Ministries International, a Pentecostal movement of believers. We are a multi-generational church running Sunday services, worship, communion, and the Word of God.

We are a group of people who love Christ and strive to reflect Him and share His love in all we do.

WE BELIEVE

  • In the infallible and authoritative Word of God.
  • There is only one God, the Creator, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • That Jesus Christ is the Son of God
  • We believe in His virgin birth
  • That He lived a sinless life
  • That His sacrificial death was an atonement for all mankind
  • That He rose from death which has given us the opportunity to receive new life
  • That He is coming again
  • That due to sin, man is spiritually lost, and in need of a saviour. Jesus is that Saviour.
  • We believe that through personal repentance and the confession that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour of our lives, we find forgiveness and salvation. This act of repentance and confession places eternity within our hearts.
  • We believe in taking the Lord’s Supper-a reminder of His sacrifice.
  • We believe in Water Baptism -full immersion for all believers.
  • We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, evidenced by the speaking in tongues is available for all believers.
  • We believe in the Fruit of the Spirit that enables us to shine forth God’s life.
  • We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit to equip us for ministry.
  • We believe in divine healing.

ABOUT US

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, written for all mankind. It was written by human authors under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit and is the supreme source of truth for Christian understanding, belief and living.
Psalm 12:6; 119:105; 160; 2 Timothy 1:13; 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21

We believe that man was made in the image of God and therefore a perfect being, until he chose to sin. All man has inherited this sin nature.
Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; Colossians 3:10

We believe that Jesus Christ, who was God incarnate came to this earth and lived a sinless life, therefore He alone has the power to bring redemption to mankind.

Through His death on the cross, He became the perfect sacrifice for our sins.
Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-3; 14; 10:30; Colossians 1:15-16; 2:9-10; Philippians 2:5-11; John 3:16-17; 14:6; Hebrews 10:12; 14; 9:11-14

We believe three days after He died, that Jesus rose from the grave, destroying the power of death in the lives of all who would put their faith in Him.
John 10:28; 1 Corinthians 15:20; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:3-5;

We believe that salvation is a free gift, and that there is no work we can do to gain eternal life. Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

John 1:12-13; 6:40; 11:25; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 4:16; 2 Timothy 1:9

We believe that Holy Communion is a commemoration of Christ’s death, this memorial act to be carried out until the time of the Lord’s return.
Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:23-24; Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 11:23-26

We believe full immersion water baptism identifies us as believers through an act that symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is a public declaration of the believer’s allegiance to Christ.
Matthew 3:11-17; Mark 16:16; John 3:5; Acts 2:41; 8:36-38; 10:47-48; 18:8; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:20-21

We believe and adhere to the Biblical example of a church which comprises a community of believers in Jesus Christ, who regularly meet together for the sole purpose of bringing glory to God through:
o fellowship
o study of, and obedience to His Word
o praise and worship

We also believe it is God’s heart to extend the church through taking His Word, into our homes and our communities with the express hope of affecting them for an eternity.

1 Chronicles 22:19; Haggai 1:14; Matthew 16:18; 28:19-20; Luke 2:49-50; Acts 2:42-47, 6:3; Romans 12:13; Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Timothy 3:1-16; Titus 1:6-9

We believe the Bible provides clear instructions on what is acceptable within the context of public worship.
We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit should be operational within the worship time, but governed according to the constraints of Scripture. These gifts are to be used for the edification of the body and to demonstrate God’s love.
Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:6-10; 27-31; 14:1-15; 1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:6
We believe that all Praise and Worship is to be reverent and God-honouring and filled with His beauty and life.
Psalm 29:2; 95:6; 99:5; 100:4; 150; Philippians 2:9-11; Revelation 4:11

We believe in the power of Jesus Christ to heal the sick in body, mind and spirit.
Exodus 15:26; 23:25; Isaiah 53:4-5; Jeremiah 17:14; 30:17; Mark 16:17-18; James 5:14-16

We believe we should honour God and His Word, through the giving of the first fruits of our income. This to support the ongoing work of the ministry so that God’s kingdom can continue to expand.
Deuteronomy 15:7-8; Psalm 41:1-3; Proverbs 11:24-25; Malachi 3:10; Luke 21:1-4;
2 Corinthians 9:6-8; 1 John 3:16-18

We believe the Second Coming of Christ to consist of two main events:
• The Rapture of the Church to Heaven
• The return of Jesus Christ to Earth with the Saints

Jesus return to earth will see the establishment of His Millennial Kingdom where He will reign for a thousand years from His throne in Jerusalem.
Matthew 24:27; John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54; 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13; 4:14-17; Revelation 1:7; 19:11-15; 20:1-6; Isaiah 11:4-10; 65:17-25; Ezekiel 40-48

We believe as Paul tells us, that the moment a Christian dies, his or her soul will instantly be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:21-23
Jesus confirmed this in His words to the thief on the cross:
Assuredly, I say to you today you will be with Me in Paradise ….. Luke 23:43

We believe that all who put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, will have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and will dwell with our Lord and Saviour in glorious new incorruptible resurrection bodies in an eternal kingdom where neither pain, sickness nor death can ever touch them again.
Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:1-5; Philippians 4:3; Hebrews 11:16; 12:22-24; Revelation
21:2,4,10; 22:1-5

We believe that those who refuse Jesus free gift of life, will be eternally separated from the Lord.
Exodus 32:31-33; Psalm 69:28; Revelation 13:8; 17:8; 20:11-15; 21:27
